Elizabeth Johnson, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday November 16, 2012. She was born in Simpson County, Kentucky the daughter of Thomas and Lizzie (Holland) Rowland. She worked for Allison Transmission during WW II and she and her husband Samuel had owned and operated a restaurant. Elizabeth also worked as a waitress at Bob Chapman's Silver Fountain. Upon losing her mother when she was 26 days old she was raised by her grandparents. Elizabeth always missed the love of her mother. She was also preceded in death by her father in 1971 and her step-mother, Dessia Rowland in 1970, her first husband Samuel Allen King in 1987, her second husband, Charlie Johnson in 2010, and a brother, Billy Rowland in 1991.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Nita (Dan) King-Diehl and Patty (Chuck) King-Shaw both of Indianapolis; her brother, Jerry Rowland of TN and sister Barbara Forshee of Franklin, KY; grandchildren, Jessica Diehl, Stacey Gorsuch, Jennifer Rose and Leslie Willis; great-grandchildren, Savannah Rose, Jake Rose, Ashley Aveline, Jack Rose, Kylie Shaw, Christyn Willis, Blake Willis, Mandy Gorsuch, Will Gorsuch, Jada Diehl-Preston, Gage Diehl-Preston and Zoe Diehl-Corcoran; a step-daughter, Jane Welker of Indianapolis also survives.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan Floral Park- 425 N. Holt Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46222. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Murat Shrine Transportation Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
