Elizabeth J. “Betty” DeHart, 92 of Carmel, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018. Betty was born January 20, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Frank and Alma Berck.
Betty was a long-time member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister, Lunch Bunch coordinator, and deacon. Previously she was member of Carmel United Methodist Church and held numerous offices including President of the United Methodist Women.
Betty was co-founder of Hamilton Centers Auxiliary in 1975 and was actively involved from inception serving as President several terms. She was awarded the Youth Service Award in 1980 for outstanding service to the youth of Hamilton County. Betty also received a Carmel “Key to the City” in July 1981 in recognition of her work with Hamilton Centers.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 18 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 19 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, with additional visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
Betty was the widow of Albert H. DeHart. She is survived by her children, Adam (wife, Shannon) DeHart and Carol DeHart; daughter-in-law, Alice DeHart; granddaughter, Dawn Williams; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Jodie Etherton; sister-in-law, Betty Berck. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan H. DeHart.
