Elizabeth (Betty) L. Shelton

Elizabeth (Betty) L. Shelton, 83 of Westfield, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025. Elizabeth was born July 14, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Earl George and Regina Becklenberg. She married Robert Shelton on November 19, 1966, and moved to Kokomo, Ind. in 1970.

Betty received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University-Kokomo in 1980. She was the secretary at Darrough Chapel Elementary School in Kokomo from 1982 to 2000, when she retired. She was also a former instructor at Indiana Business College in Kokomo. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, and an avid Bridge player. She was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved supporting her grandchildren at their many sporting events.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Robert W. Shelton; children, Trudy A. (husband, Dean) Himelick, Katherine M. (husband, John) Ritsmon, Angela L. (husband, Dan) Pantos; grandchildren, Justin A. Himelick, Christina A. Himelick, Kaia L. Pantos, Nikolas S. Pantos. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dolores Becklenberg, Virginia Aubuchon and Mary Dent.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather in the church narthex from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
