Eleanor -Ellie- Gilliand

EleanorIrene “Ellie” Gilliand, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away November 7, 2016. Ellie was born December 8, 1922 in Frankfort,IN and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Lela and Harry Thompson. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working inher flower garden and feeding the birds in her yard. She was a faithful member of Castleton UnitedMethodist Church where she was affectionately known as the Hat Lady for herbeautiful hats she wore every Sunday. She was also a Castleton Mall Walker walking 6 days a week until age 88when an auto accident forced her to not walk. Ellie was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, and her husbandHoward and a brother, Malcolm Cuffel and sister, Arwilda Zapp.

Ellie issurvived by Terry and Susan Ising, Todd and Gillian Ising, Jill Vickers, Kaylaand Kristen Vickers and Henry and Ellie Ising.

Funeralservices will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Flanner andBuchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the service time. Entombment will be in Washington Park EastCemetery. In honor of Ellie please feel free to wear a hat to her service.
