Eleanor Ann Barnett, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. She was born on July 2, 1936 in Normal, Illinois to Robert C. and Hazel Marie (Engdahl) Young. Eleanor was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended IU-Kokomo. She married Raymond Thomas Barnett on May 12, 1956, and several years later they moved their family to the Indianapolis area. Eleanor volunteered her time to teach water aerobics at the Krannert Community Center and was also a reading mentor at Chapel Glen Elementary. She spent many years as the secretary at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. When Eleanor wasn't busy caring for her family, she could be found reading a good mystery novel and sewing. Her greatest passion was supporting her grandchildren in their many sporting events and activities. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Barnett; daughters, Cindy Barnett, Tracy Friar and Jennifer (Dale) Rolfson; 6 grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Wren, Daniel, Erin and Abigail; 2 great-granddaughters, Stella and Harper. Eleanor is also survived by her sister-in-law, Becky (Jim) Mulis and their children, Jessica and David. A memorial gathering will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 5-7pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Fibromyalgia Research Association.
