Elaine Fruitt

Orena Elaine (Wright) Fruitt, 87, passed away March 11, 2026, at her home in Zionsville, Indiana surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 9, 1938, to Mary Jane (Clements) and Talmadge Wright in Farmland, Indiana.

After attending all 12 years at Farmland schools, she graduated from Farmland High School in 1956. On August 8, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Don Lee Fruitt. Elaine was a homemaker and raised four children: Orena, Shelley, Lori, and Eric. She loved to embroider, sew, make crafts, and paint ceramics, play golf, and attend her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She particularly loved to vacation in Florida with her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family, especially her homemade peanut butter fudge! Elaine enjoyed dancing, especially doing the jitterbug with her husband Don! Her favorite pastime was collecting music boxes which, over the years, became a treasured assortment that she proudly displayed around her home.

Remaining to cherish Elaine’s memory is her loving husband of 67 years, Don of Zionsville, Indiana; daughter Orena (John) Kidder of Onsted, Michigan, daughter Shelley (the late Robert) Mastie of Grand Ledge, Michigan, daughter Lori Marcum of Zionsville, Indiana, son Eric (Sara) Fruitt of Avon, Indiana; 9 grandchildren: Joshua (Katie) Kidder of Caledonia, Michigan, Jacob (Jenny) Kidder of Otsego, Michigan, Lindsay (Mike) Pelette of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Orena Jylene (Mike) Kirchner of Caledonia, Michigan, Melissa (Sam) Allen of Eagle, Michigan, Alex Marcum of Long Beach, California, Wendell Mosteller (fiancee Abbie Smith) of Fishers, Indiana, Julee (Kam) Middleditch of Caledonia, Michigan, and Olivia Fruitt of Avon, Indiana; 11 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Eli, Jayla, and Jace Kidder, Nathan and Emily Pelette, Jayde, Harper, and Ayden Kirchner; and Abby and Luke Allen; her brother Malcolm Wright of Farmland, Indiana; sister Bessie Shaw of Farmland, Indiana, and several dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Roberta Sunday, Aletta Bosh, and Barbara Brown; son-in-law Robert Mastie; and grandson Drew Marcum.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2025, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, with funeral beginning at 11 a.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Zionsville at 105 W. Pine Street in Zionsville. Entombment will immediately follow at Gardens of Memory at 10703 N. Indiana 3, Muncie, IN 46303.
