Eileen M. DeStefano

Eileen M. DeStefano, 103 of Carmel, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024.  Eileen was born May 5, 1920 in Indianapolis to the late Harry and Lorena Mellendorf.  She graduated from Purdue University in 1942 with a degree in home economics.

After graduation, Eileen worked for Eli Lilly & Co. before moving to California where her husband was stationed during the war. After returning to Indianapolis, she was hired as the co-host of a local cooking show that was broadcast on Channel 6.

Eileen and her husband relocated to southern Indiana due to her husband’s business.  While there, Eileen worked as a broker and real estate agent.  After her husband’s death, she returned to Indianapolis where she became very involved in the Sunnyside Guild.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 23 at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Dusty” DeStefano and her brother, Loren D. Mellendorf.
