Edythe Ellen Bingham Banta

Edythe Ellen Bingham Banta, 88, of Carmel passed away April 10, 2023.  She was born April 19, 1934, in Nitro, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Arthur Lowell and Edythe Mae (Edwards) Bingham.  She married John W. Banta on August 14, 1953.  He preceded her in passing on August 29, 1997.  Her brother, Arthur ‘Junior’ Bingham, also preceded her in passing on March 2, 2020.

Edythe graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1955.  Her most recent work was 20 years as an office nurse for pediatrician, Dr. Donald L. Rogers and 10 years as a school nurse at Traders Point Christian Academy.  She was certified as an American Sign Language interpreter and served as such at her church and Billy Graham Crusades.  During the summers while working at TCPA, she traveled the US and world extensively and even more so once she retired from TCPA at the age of 73.  Her talents included piano, cross stitch, découpage, and furniture restoration.

She is survived by her three children, Alice Eileen Oyler, J. Wrede (Kathy) Banta, and Richard L. (Candi) Banta; two brothers, Gene (Hattie) Bingham and Richard A. (Beverly) Bingham; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.  The Nursing Honor Guard will give a special presentation at 3pm.  Edythe was a Parkinson’s warrior, and it is requested that memorial contributions be directed to the Michael J.
