Edward Lee Williams Jr., 97, of New Palestine passed away on April 2, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1926, in Corbin, Kentucky to parents Edward Sr. and Eula Williams. Edward dutifully served his country in the United States Army (1st Calvary 302nd Recon Trp) during World War II. He was a proud veteran, always sporting his infamous WW2 Army hat wherever he went. Edward was a dedicated machinist for Western Electric for over 30 years. He had intelligence out of this world, and his mind was sharp. These aided in his hobby of tinkering with cars. He loved stock car racing and even partook in races himself. Edward was an excellent guitar player as well. He performed in a few old country bands. Edward could be remembered by a lot of things, but what you could remember most about him was his integrity, his kindness, and his love for his family. He will be missed sorely by all the lives he has touched.
Edward is survived by his son, Paul “Mike” Williams (Mary Ann Fehlen); his grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Tompkins (Jacob), Melissa Renee Speck (Marc), and Allison Morris; and his great-grandchildren, Landon Speck, Logan Tompkins, and Brooklyn Tompkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents (listed above); loving wife, Veronica Eva Williams; his son, Edward “Ted” Williams III; grandson, Joshua; and 9 siblings.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 4-8PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229.
