Edward Emmett Higgins, 78, of Indianapolis passed away on February 18, 2024. He was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on September 11, 1945. Edward grew up attending Shelbyville Nazarene Church. He loved to bowl in his early life, but his favorite sport to play was golf. Edward retired after 38 dedicated years from General Motors, where he worked as an electrician. While working at General Motors, he met the love of his life, Lois Arthur. Together they spent 33 years of marital bliss. Edward was a sharp dressed man who enjoyed reading the gospel and singing. He was a talented musician and even played the trombone and guitar. Edward was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and even played in the Shriner’s Band. To know Edward was to love him. He will be missed sorely by all the lives he has touched.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Lois Arthur; his children, Dana (Walter) Boat, Bridgette Higgins, and Gerald Arthur; his stepsister, Marjorie Vinson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends. 

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Stacey and Marjorie Fall; his son, Danny Scott Higgins; and a baby brother, Franklin Higgins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 11AM-1PM at Flanner Buchanan—Memorial Park, 9350 E Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation starting at 1PM. Edward will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
