Edward H. Lechner

November 15, 1937 — January 9, 2013

Edward H. Lechner of New Palestine, died January 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75. Edward graduated from Warren Central Class of 1955 and attended Indiana University studying accounting. He was a veteran of the US Marines. He was the former CEO of Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) and was a member of the IMCU Board of Directors. Edward earned the respect and admiration of the IMCU employees, board of directors and the credit union membership over his 42 years of leadership. He had exceptional intellect and vision. The employees knew him as a man of outstanding distinction and compassion, who laid the path for IMCU to follow well into the future. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed cruises in the winters with his wife of 55 years Gretchen. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Edward is survived by his loving wife Gretchen Lechner; sons Edward H. Lechner III and William R. Lechner (Courtney); grandchildren Chelsea, Sarah, and Maximilian Lechner; sister Marjorie Vaughn (Max) and sister-in-law Jo Mitchell. Visitation will be held Monday, January 14 from 3 to 8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington St, Indianapolis. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 15 at 11 AM at Flanner and Buchanan. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Food Pantry, 741 ½ S. State Road 9, Greenfield, IN 46140.
