Edward Grant "Ed" Barnes, 86, passed away in his home, surrounded by family, on December 27, 2014, in Indianapolis.
Rev. Barnes was born June 30, 1928, in Monessen, PA, to Aquilla and Pearl (Wigfield) Barnes. He graduated from Milligan College (Tennessee) in 1950 and Christian Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in 1972. He married JoAnn Teague in 1953. During his ministry he served churches in Indiana, Colorado, and Illinois. He retired at Eaton, IN, in 2003. After his retirement he provided interim ministry for several more years. He and JoAnn finally settled down at Robin Run Village in 2009.
Ed enjoyed all things musical, playing the piano, singing in church choir, learning chimes with the Robin Run Chimers, and listening to classical music.
Rev. Barnes is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Teague) Barnes, and seven children: David (Sue) Barnes of Danville, IL.; Debbie (Doug Heaton) Barnes of Springfield, IL.; Dianna Richardson of Maroa, IL; Mark (Sue) Barnes of Danville, IL; Mary Ann (John) Satterfield of Lafayette, IN; Christina (Eric) Hancock of Rossville, IN; and Brad Barnes of Greenwood, IN. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Westview Christian Church Building Fund.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North from 4pm to 8pm and funeral services will be there Wednesday at 11am, with calling one hour prior. Online condolences may be made at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
