Edith I. Lewis

Edith Irene (Shanklin) Lewis84, was born in Indianapolis IN on January 9, 1931. She died at StVincents Hospital on January 7, 2016. She was born to the latePleasant O. and Mildred Shanklin. She was raised in Boone County andgraduated from Lebanon High School Class of 1949. She was married to Earle M. Lewis for 55years, he died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her sister,Carol E. Layman and brother, John W. Shanklin. She worked at Mayflower Transit, AmericanRedball Transit and retired from John Hancock Insurance Co. after 20 years ofservice. Edith enjoyed playing golf,gardening, flowers and spending time with friends and family who will rememberher kind, loving nature and especially her thoughtfulness. She is survived by a sister, Janet R.Martinez, several nieces and nephews. Serviceswill be held at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park North 2706 Kessler BlvdWest Dr, with viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 13,2016. Service will follow at 11:00 am and Entombment will be atWashington Park North Cemetery. Memorialcontributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
