Edith A Griebelbauer

Edith A. Griebelbauer (Waggoner), 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 6th at Woodland Terrace, New Palestine, IN.

Born on December 12, 1928, in Indianapolis, IN., she was the daughter of Odus and Grace (Wulf) Waggoner. She married Elmer Lee Griebelbauer in Indianapolis, IN on April 23, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2020.

Edith was a lifetime member of the Indianapolis Art Center where she took numerous classes and acted as class monitor. She was a prolific award winning artist specializing in oil portraits.

She shared a love for gardening, fishing and traveling with her husband. Many of her travels took her across the country to visit her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Glenda A. Anderson, of St. Petersburg FL; David (Dawn) L. Griebelbauer of Black Forest, CO; Holly (Greg) S. Cunningham of Laramie, WY; Laura (Calvin) J. Walker of West Monroe, LA; Elaine (Robert III) A. Paugh of Indianapolis, IN; 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Her love of Art continued into the art of dance; belonging to several square dance groups, including: Bright Ideas, Lucky Squares, Young at Heart Squares, and Butterfly Rounds. She also expanded into clogging, belonging to Cornfield and Stardust Cloggers.

Although she had many pets throughout her life, a cat on her lap was always a constant…Mickey, Buffy, Ralph, Rocky, Sparky, and Purr-Lin to name just a few.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11th, 2024 from 11:00AM-1:00PM at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Randy Badgley.

Graveside services will immediately follow in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Southside Animal Shelter.
