Edgar Francis Stresino

Edgar (Ed) F. Stresino, P.E. , of Speedway, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2014. He was born in Genoa, Italy. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he received his Bachelor and Masters degree in Engineering. He later received an MBA from Butler University. He worked for various companies until 1972 when he was hired by the Indiana State Board of Health (later the Indiana Department of Environmental Management) where he served in various positions including Chief of the Air Pollution Control Bureau. His professional activities included the local Air and Waste Management Chapter, the Central Indiana Technical and Environmental Society Board, Life Member in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Scientech. He also believed in giving back to the community and served as Cub and Boy Scout Leader, the Speedway Transportation Commission, Speedway Project Recycle, Speedway Solid Waste Commission, charter member and usher for St. Gabriel Church, and President of the Friends of the Speedway Public Library. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary Lou (Godette) Stresino and children Jo (Ed) Cully, Kathy Stresino, Pete (Connie) Stresino, and Bob Stresino and 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Mario, Rosie, Anika, and Michael. He is also survived by his siblings Louise Gibson, Edward Stresino, and Anabel Leigh. He was preceded in death by his son, Air Force Major Charlie Stresino. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Speedway Library. Visitation will be Thursday, May 8th, 4:00-8:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan, 2950 N. High School Road, Speedway. Visitation will also be at 10:00 AM at St Gabriel Church on Friday, May 9th with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 AM.
