Roe Cochran

Earl Monroe Cochran, fondly known as Roe to family and friends, was born Liberty Kentucky at home in a farmhouse, 10/2/29 on rural route 2 Houstonville, Kentucky.

in his early years, Earl grew up with no plumbing or heat he would often walk to school with no shoes. As a young child he attended a one room schoolhouse with a wood-burning stove up until 3rd grade when he had drop out to help the family on their farm. From the age of 5 he learned how to use a 2-man crosscut saw and his skill set only grew from there. This lead him learn he had a knack for anything carpentry, throughout his career in carpentry Roe was mostly self-taught.

At the age of 20 Roe moved to Indianapolis and began working for a local framing contractor for $1.76 an hour. Durning this time he joined the Medical Core in July of 1952 where he became the ward master at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Washington for 2 years.

Following his time there Roe moved to Carmel In, in 1954 and began working for Wilkerson Construction and Tom Wilson construction for 21 years. Roe then ventured out and started his own business with Harlan Tutor, Cochran and Tutor construction and then solely E M Cochran Construction. Throughout his time, he went on to build many beautiful custom homes throughout Carmel and surrounding areas.

Roe retired in 2012 but always stayed busy helping others with various projects. Roe was know to many for his characteristics for being honest, loyal and hardworking. He made numerous lifelong friends during his many years. He will be greatly missed. 

Roe married Beverly "Darlene" Cochran, they were married for 68 lovely years, she preceded him in passing in 2024. Together they shared 4 children, Steve, Frank, Robin and Renee; and grandson, James Cochran,

Roe was preceded in death by son Frank in 2015, and parents, Earl and Clara King Cochran.

A visitation for family and friends to gather will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10am until 12pm at Flanner Buchanan Hamilton memorial park - Prairie Waters (4180 Westfield Rd. Westfield, IN 46060). A Funeral Service will begin following at 12pm. Burial will take place at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery.
