E.D. “Hoop” Hoopingarner

71, of Indianapolis, died September 4, 2016. Elmer was born February 15, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Wayne and Lenora (Richards) Hoopingarner. Elmer proudly and honorably served his country in the US Army and National Guard, where he found his passion in flying helicopters. He also worked as a telephone exchange installer for Lucent Technologies for 38 years, retiring in 2005. He was also a member of Church at Main in Brownsburg. When he wasn’t working, he also enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Owen) Hoopingarner, daughters Angela D. (Creighton) McGuire, Jean A. (Steven) Windham, stepsons Brad E. (Oona) Vasel, Robert J (Marta) Vasel, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Floral Park, with services Friday at 11am in the funeral center. Burial will follow in Floral Park Cemetery.
