Dwight M. Armitage, Sr., age 79 of Indianapolis passed away on May 21, 2016. He was born January 19, 1937 in Butler County, Ohio to James V. and Felsie Armitage who preceded him in death. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired from Wilson-Partenheimer where he worked as Sales Engineer. He is a Past President of Construction Specifications Institute and held two patents. He was a longtime member of the West Newton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the DeMolay. He was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Martinsville, and loved serving others, especially working with kids. He was quick witted and loved to laugh. He was a big Ohio State and Cincinnati Reds fan.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Geri, sons, David Matthew Armitage and Douglas Marion Armitage, brothers, Glenn and Dr. James Armitage and his sister, Eva Ellis. Surviving to cherish his memory are his Children, Tracy Ann (Robert) Welker, Tricia L. (David) Gressle and Dwight, “Skip” (Anna Mingus) Armitage, Jr., daughter-in-law, Jamie Armitage, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit from 4-8 PM Friday, May 27, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis. A celebration of his life will be at 10 AM Saturday at the funeral center. Contributions may be made in his name to Relay for Life, c/o the West Newton DeMolay or the American Heart Association.
