Durward Meadows

Durward C. “Slim” Meadows, 91, Indianapolis, passed away August 14, 2011. He was born November 14, 1919 in Hitchen, KY, the son of B. H. and Bessie (Kiser) Meadows. Slim served in the US Marine Corps in World War II, where he received a medal. Slim retired from Chrysler Motor Corporation after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Post Road Christian Church. Slim enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. He married Helena “Bonnie” (Abdon) Meadows on December 9, 1944, and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his son, Greg, in 1958, and granddaughter, Sherri, in 1966. Slim is survived by sons, Jack Meadows (Vicki) and Phil Meadows (Jacque); his daughters, Jody Meadows and Donna Berry; his grandchildren, Stacy, Jeff, Derrick, Chris, and James; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Edith Stafford. Services will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 1 PM at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Oaklawn, with calling from 12 PM until service time. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be designated to Southern Care Hospice, 2345 S. Lynhurst Dr., Ste. 108, Indianapolis, IN 46241 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
