Du Hwan “Don” Park, 94, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 31, 2026. He was born on January 18, 1932, in Gyeongsan, South Korea, to the late Il Joon Park and Sun Jo Kim.
Don graduated from Yonsei University in Seoul while supporting himself by tutoring high school students. He majored in international business and trade. Through his older brother, he met his future wife, Sun Young “Sue”, who was a high school Chemistry teacher. At the time, Don was serving in the Korean military as an English interpreter. He knew from their very first date that Sue was the person with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life.
After completing his military service, Don became a high school teacher as well. He and Sue were married on April 12, 1958. Together, Don and Sue ventured into several businesses, including a bakery, coffee shop, bookstore, and high-fashion boutique.
In 1970, Don immigrated to the United States and settled in Indianapolis, where his younger brother was living. He worked various jobs until his wife and four children were able to join him in 1972. Don dreamed of owning his own business in America, and in 1973, he established Don Enterprises. Together, he and Sue worked tirelessly to build and sustain the business. Don continued going to work and overseeing the company until just one week before his passing.
One of the defining moments of Don’s life occurred in his 50’s. Through a number of influences, Don came to trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins and began a relationship with God. He described that experience with three simple words: “He touched me.” Don had indeed been touched by God and began going to church and enriched the lives of his family and church community with his new found faith and generosity.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Sun Young Park; his children, Mia Park, Lanna Blanchard, Sunny Park, and Joong Eun Park; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother.
