Dr. Monique Marie Jones, cherished by many, peacefully entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was born on February 24, 1971, in the vibrant city of Indianapolis, Indiana, to the proud parents Charles and Mary Jane Jones.  

Monique was baptized at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. Landrum Shields. In her early years at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church she served as an acolyte, attended Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. As an adult Monique continued to confess her faith under the leadership of Bishop Sir Walter L. Mack Jr at Union Baptist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina.   

Monique’s core Values pillared off a profound commitment to education and service. She embarked on her academic voyage at Chatard High School, where she laid the foundation for her illustrious career. Monique's thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education, culminating in a series of remarkable achievements. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the esteemed institutions of Bennett College and North Carolina A&T State University. Fueling her passion further, she attained a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Winston Salem State University, followed by a distinguished Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Garner-Webb University. Her dedication to shaping young minds extended beyond the classroom, evidenced by her acquisition of a principal certification and superintendent license. Throughout her professional journey, Monique adorned various roles, from an inspiring elementary and middle school teacher to a nurturing literacy coach. Her innovative teaching methodologies were recognized with prestigious accolades and grants such as the Innovative Teacher grant which allowed her to buy reading materials that reflected her students’ needs, further affirming her commitment to excellence.  

In addition to her unwavering dedication to education and service, Dr. Monique Marie Jones was a vibrant presence in her community engaging in a myriad of enriching activities and affiliations. She was actively involved with esteemed organizations such as the National Education Association (NEA), Sista to Sista book club, and Phi Delta Kappa during her collegiate years, demonstrating her commitment to the advancement of education and professional development. A devout member of Union Baptist Church, Monique found solace and purpose in her faith, embodying its teachings of compassion and service. Her altruistic spirit extended to her work with professional parenting therapeutic foster care, where she provided nurturing support to those in need, leaving an indelible impact on countless lives. Furthering her mission to enact positive change, Monique served as an Activity and Educational Coordinator in her family-owned group home, Stop the Cycle Now, Inc, tirelessly advocating for the welfare and empowerment of marginalized individuals. Her dedication to fostering an inclusive community exemplified her profound commitment to making the world a better place for all. This solidified in stone with her also had been an active participant in the Triad Black Professionals network, where she forged connections with like-minded individuals dedicated to professional growth and community empowerment. Her involvement with the National Council of Negro Women further underscored her commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of both African American women and their communities, embodying the organization's ethos of sisterhood and social justice. Even with her eye for the finer things as a Traci Lynn jewelry consultant, Monique combined her passion for fashion with her desire to support women's empowerment, offering stylish accessories while promoting self-confidence and entrepreneurship among her clientele. Her tireless efforts and compassionate spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind, echoing her legacy. One which is defined not only by her remarkable achievements in education and selfless contributions to various causes close to her heart but also in the dedication to making a difference in the lives of others, of service and kindness for generations to come.
