85, born in Gettysburg, SouthDakota, passed away peacefully in her Indianapolis, Indiana, home surrounded byloved ones on Friday, October 16, 2015, after courageously battling ALS.

Preceded in death by her husband,Dr. Robert K. Stirling, her brothers George, Otto, and Emil Strakis, and hersisters Martha Knopf and Esther Nicholas.

Dr. Marie was a proud Butler Bulldoggraduate, who then earned her DO from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine,where she met her husband and the love of her life, Dr. Robert K. Stirling. Togetherthey founded Stirling Clinic and were two of the nine founding members ofWestview Hospital, where her passion for patient care shone ever so brightly. Atrue fan of sport, she loved her Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, ChicagoCubs, and Butler Bulldogs, but she cheered loudest for children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her two brothers,Herman and John Strakis, two sisters, Anna Rosebrough and Pauline Jefferson,two daughters, Mary Baker and Nancy Smith, and her son, Robert Stirling Jr.,seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service willbe held on Sunday, October 18, 2015 (TODAY) at 4:00 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Decatur Township 5463 Kentucky Ave.,Indianapolis, IN. Visitation for familyand friends will follow the service until 6:30 pm at Flanner and Buchanan.
