Dr. Glenn “Ed” Cummins, 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026.
Born on June 13, 1942, in Vincennes, Indiana, Ed was the first child of the late Glenn Woodrow Cummins and Rosemary (Burns) Cummins. A devoted son and brother, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Patrick Cummins.
As a child, Ed developed a love of animals on his grandmother’s farm. As a youth, he raised and showed Angus cattle on the fair circuit, with his beloved Uncle Bill. He pursued Veterinary Medicine as a way to continue working with animals, and graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1966. He spent nearly 50 years in the profession, initially caring for pets at his clinic in Nora Plaza, and then at his E. 91st St. location.
Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sertoma Club, and he and his wife were longtime members of St. Luke Catholic Church, where their faith remained a guiding force throughout their lives.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy Ann (Hancock) Cummins, as well as his loving daughter, Dr. Tiffany Ann Cummins (Charles Weiss) of Brooklyn, NY; his siblings, Michael Cummins (Charolet) of Ocala, FL, William Cummins (Jessica) of Marietta, GA, Mary Ann Jackson (Michael) of Monroe, Michigan, Marie Fuller (Jerry) of Vincennes, IN, Gregory Cummins (Bridget) of Colorado Springs, CO, Helena Cummins of Vincennes, IN, Phillip Cummins (Michelle) of Vincennes, IN, and Kevin Cummins (Missy) of Vincennes, IN; his sister-in-law, Margaret Cummins of Howe, IN; and his beloved granddaughter, Lillian Weiss. He also leaves behind two bereft cats (Scarlett and Trotter) and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46220. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
