Obituary

Douglas Andrew Whicker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Fishers, IN, on July 14, 2026. He was 68 years old. Born on March 15, 1958, in Noblesville, IN, Douglas brought warmth, laughter, and steadfast love to all who knew him.

Douglas was the son of the late Keith Alden Whicker and Beverly Ann Whicker, whose memories and values he carried with him throughout his life. His childhood in Indiana laid the foundation for a life defined by family ties, unwavering integrity, and a deep commitment to his community.

A proud graduate of Westfield High School in 1976, Douglas went on to attend Anderson College, continuing his lifelong pursuit of knowledge. These years forged many enduring friendships and set the stage for his journey as a respected businessman.

Douglas owned and operated a NAPA auto parts store, a business he led and nurtured for over 40 years. His expertise, genuine care for his customers, and dedication to quality service made his business a cornerstone in the community. Douglas took great pride in his career’s longevity, considering it one of his proudest accomplishments alongside the family he so dearly cherished.

Family was at the very heart of Douglas’s life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Ann Whicker, whose partnership was the foundation of so much joy and support. Together, they lovingly raised their daughter Grace Zmich and son Andy Whicker, both of whom carry forward their father’s legacy of kindness and strength. Douglas’s joy expanded again with the marriage of their daughter, Grace, to Matt Zmich, and then again upon arrival of grandchildren Ellie and Emma Zmich, whose achievements and milestones brought him immeasurable happiness.

He is also survived by his brother Gregory Whicker and Gregory’s wife Sue, his sister Debbie Lambdin and her husband Bill, and his sister Elaine Harding and her husband Bill. Douglas’s wide circle of family provided a lifetime of support, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Douglas’s interests and passions were as vibrant as his personality. He was gregarious, easy-going, and always greeted friends and family with a big, welcoming smile. Nothing brought him greater satisfaction than attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, sharing in their triumphs from the sidelines. His love for sports extended into the community as well—Douglas dedicated over 40 years to running the clock and scoreboard for Westfield High School football, a tradition that became emblematic of his commitment to supporting local youth.

Fond memories were created during trips to Florida, family adventures, and countless sporting events attended together. Douglas’s appreciation for basketball, football, and cars—anything automotive, really—created many moments of connection and joy with those who shared his interests.

Throughout his life, Douglas was defined by his love for his family, his devotion to his business, and his loyal friendships. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and boundless positivity.

Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate Douglas’s life at Cyntheanne Christian Church in Fishers, IN. Visitation will be held on July 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed immediately by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the same location.

Douglas Andrew Whicker’s enduring spirit, kindness, and example will remain with all who were privileged to know and love him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
