Douglas Jay Lewis, age 51, longtime resident of Westfield, IN, passed away on September 27, 2025, while on vacation, surrounded by his family, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Familiarly known as Doug, was born in Richmond, IN on March 2, 1974 to parents Cynthia (Musser) Clingaman and the late Gerald Lewis. After graduating from South Newton High School in 1992, Doug enlisted in the United States Navy where he served until honorably discharged. He then trained and became a Certified Commercial Diver through the state of New Jersey. Later becoming a Journeyman Electrician and Electrical Engineer Technician.
Doug moved to Corpus Christi, TX and met his wife and soulmate of 30 years Tammy Garcia Lewis. They married on July 14, 2001 and have three children: Lauren, Luke and Layla. Then located to Westfield, IN in 2008.
Doug was a devoted husband, proud father, son, brother, adventurous, and talented person overall. When he was not dedicating himself to his job as an Industrial Maintenance Manager, he was outdoors either fishing, spending time with his family, fixing his beloved truck of 20 years or barbequing regardless of the weather. Doug also enjoyed yelling at the Bears during football season, dancing with his wife in the living room, singing to rock songs while he cooked new recipes, sharing his brewery projects with neighbors, and woodworking on a CNC router machine he built from scratch. He was truly a creative genius of a man who took his time to research every project that sparked his interest thoroughly. He was also a member of St. Maria Goretti parish where he humbly partook in volunteer work with his family to bring food to communities in and around Westfield and transport gifts to families during the holidays.
He is survived by his wife Tammy; his children Lauren, Luke, and Layla; his sister Jennifer (Lewis) Trout; his nephews Adam and Ben Trout; and his mother Cynthia. Doug is preceded in death by his father Gerald.
Doug will be remembered for his warm, welcoming presence and innovative spirit. His legacy continues through fascination for the wonders life has to offer and providing uproarious entertainment and acceptance to those in our lives who need it.
