Douglas Deese

Douglas Heath Deese, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015. He was born on December 26, 1947 in Milton, FL to Thermon Heath and Ruby Lee (Spicer) Deese. Doug was a 1970 graduate of the University of Florida and worked as a Senior Engineer of Substation Design for Wabash Valley Power, retiring in March of this year after 23 years of service. He was a longtime member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and enjoyed woodworking, cooking and supporting his favorite football team, the Florida Gators. Doug was also instrumental in creating a Spinal Cord Injury Support Group at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathy (Erhardt) Young Deese; 5 children, Debra (Jason) Durham, James Young, Anne Young, Sara Young; and 5 grandchildren. Doug is also survived by brothers, Leroy Deese and Thermon H. Deese, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2pm in John Knox Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service, also at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made in Doug's name to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana. Cremation services entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway.
