Douglas Carl Davis

Douglas Carl Davis, 59, of Indianapolis, Indiana went to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:00am August 18, 2023.

Doug was born to Janet and Douglas Davis in Lima, Ohio on August 14, 1964. Doug graduated in 1982 from Elida High School. He then went on to University of Northern Ohio graduating in 1984 with a degree in Automotive Repair. Later in life, owned his own business as a master carpenter.

Douglas leaves behind his beloved mother, Janet, our Nana, or “Little Mama” as he used to call her, with a teasing pat on her head when he said his goodbyes. His only son, Kodey Douglas Davis (Hayla), gave him a grandson, Zion Angelo Davis, and the two of them were the light of his life. Survivors also include his sister, Tamera Rhoad, her five children, and their families: Kyle Rhoad, Jon (Kim) Rhoad, Carla (Zac) McPheron, Andrew (Krista) Rhoad their children Emree, Elias, Ezra, Ella, and Mandy Rhoad.

Doug had one of the most genuine souls a person could possess. He listened excitedly and had a unique ability to make you feel special. He was the very definition of a gentle giant. Although he towered over everyone with his grandiose size, nothing was bigger than his heart. Doug was many things: a caring brother, father, son, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was “Poppy” to his great-nieces and great-nephews, although we can all agree, he was most proud of being called Grandpa by Zion.

He was an excellent problem solver and hard worker who always found a way to use his talents and time to engage with those he loved. Doug will be remembered for his kind, gentle and fun-loving nature. A man who never really grew up and who touched all the lives that entered his in a positive way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Harmon Davis and sister, Carmen Renee Davis.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00pm August 24th at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. Visitation will begin there at 12:30pm.
