Dorothy Jean Weaver, a beloved resident of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on March 6, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Hollis Maurice and Frederica Bell (Goforth) Clements. Her life was deeply rooted in the community where she was born, lived, and ultimately departed.
Dorothy dedicated a portion of her life to her work as an assembler and book binder at H and H Book Binding Company, contributing her skills and diligence with pride and care. Her work ethic and commitment were reflections of her steady and dependable character, admired by all who knew her.
Family was a central pillar in Dorothy’s life. She is lovingly survived by her treasured children: Dale Parish, Cindy Pickett, and Tootie Griffith. Dorothy’s legacy continues through her six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry her memory forward with affection and respect. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her son Robert "Bobby" Parish.
The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Dorothy’s life during the visitation hours on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by additional visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Both services will be held at the Flanner Buchanan Funeral Centers - Decatur Township, located at 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. The funeral service will commence immediately following the visitation on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
Dorothy will be laid to rest with honor and dignity in Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Greenwood, Indiana, at 1:00 p.m. on May 12, 2026. The address of the cemetery is 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
Throughout her long life, Dorothy Jean Weaver touched many hearts with her kindness and strength. Her memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy marked by love, perseverance, and dedication to family and community. Dorothy’s presence is deeply missed, yet her spirit remains ever present among those who treasured her dearly.
