Dorothy Powers Shull
92, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 25, 2016 after a recent head injury and a long happy life. She was the only child of Wayne and Loretta (Behringer) Pace. Dottie was a St. Agnes Academy graduate and attended Indiana University where she studied Textile and Design. Dottie’s sense of wonder never diminished with age or circumstance and is a gift she leaves her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Brooks Powers and her husband of 26 years R.K. Shull, a longtime syndicate columnist for the Indianapolis Star and News. Dottie is survived by children, Sandra Dyson, Brooks (Paula), Pamela and Parris (Karen) Powers; step-daughters, September and Bambi Shull; grandchildren, Dorian (Christine) Dyson, Shawn (Jenn) Powers, Savannah Burgess and Audrey Krajec; great-grandson, Liam Powers; niece, Judy Nichols, and beloved Leggitt and Behringer cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 520 Stevens St. Indianapolis, IN, 46203 with a private interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675. The family would like to sincerely thank Morningside’s Memory Unit Staff and St. Vincent Hospice for caring for their mother. Arrangements handled by Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple.
