Dorothy Hooser

Dorothy "Betty" Bamford Hooser, 93, passed away December 12, 2011. She was born in Indianapolis on July 8, 1918, to Thomas and Helen (Quigley) Bamford. A graduate of Washington High School, she married her "high school hero," Lafe Hooser, in 1941. He preceded her in death after 65 years of marriage in 2007. A pioneer in the working world, Betty held positions in the computer industry and as a technical writer in Washington, D.C. and was very proud of her work on a project for NASA. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Indianapolis, but her favorite job was as a volunteer at Robin's Nest Childcare from 2000 to 2007. Betty, or "Mau," is survived by daughter Helenann (Alan) Klukowski; grandchildren Kim (John) Hannel, Kristi Klukowski, and Ken (Amanda) Klukowski; great-grandsons Drew and Ben Hannel and Chase, Caleb, and Remy Klukowski; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Betty will be held at Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd., on December 16, 2011 at 1pm, with visitation 2 hours prior to the service time. Burial will follow in Floral Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Vincent Hospice.
