Dorothy Fisher, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. She was born October 27, 1944, in Indianapolis to Frank and Pearl Wills.
Dorothy grew up in Indianapolis and carried her strong work ethic throughout her life. She worked for many years as a machine operator for Book Binders, later Rand McNally, before retiring. Never one to stay idle, she continued working as a part-time bus driver for IPS, a role she truly enjoyed and excelled at. Faith was an important part of Dorothy’s life.
She was a devoted member of Calvary Temple, faithfully attending services every Wednesday and Sunday. Above all, Dorothy was a loving, vibrant woman, with just the right amount of sass that endeared her to everyone who knew her. She treasured time with her family, especially during Christmas, when her joy came from watching loved ones open presents. She adored her cats—really, all cats—and found peace and happiness in gardening, tending to flowers both inside and out.
Dorothy’s greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by her son, Lowell (Kathy) Fisher; her grandchildren, Samantha (Jacob), Amanda, and Austin (Jamie); and her great-grandchildren, Emalyn, Liam, Aurora, Oliver, and Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Francis, William, Helen, and Laura. Dorothy will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and her love that touched every generation of her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to bloom in the lives she shaped.
Scripture
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” — John 14:1–3
