Dorothy P. Farris, of Zionsville, Indiana died at the age of ninety-four on September 15, 2014. She was born Dorothy Priscilla Aldous, to Anna Schiesser Aldous and Charles H. Aldous, on February 16, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York. When Dorothy was twelve years old the Aldous family moved to Vincennes, Indiana and later to Indianapolis where her father was an accountant.
Dot, as she was known, was an alumna of Shortridge High School. Soon after her schooling, in 1938, she married John H. Booth, Jr. with whom she had four children. She later married Walton A. Farris, a retired Ford Motor Company safety manager. Mr. Farris died in 1991.
Dorothy considered her chosen calling to be caring for her family. However, for a time she was employed at Wm. H. Block and Company in Indianapolis. Her love and devotion to family members was evident throughout her life. She will be missed by all.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Aldous; two sisters, Ruth Miller and Annie Harding.
She is survived by her children: John C. Booth, Julia A. Boyer, Jean E. Maurer and Jo Ann Carter; two step-sons, James Farris and Charles Farris; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Barbara Aldous; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville.
