On October 4, 2015, Dorothy Dellis (Duffer) Miller
A resident of Indianapolis, departed this world to be with her beloved husband of 56 years, Ted. She was born April 7, 1928 in Scottsville, Kentucky to the late Vernon and Viola Duffer. Dorothy always strove to improve herself. She taught herself shorthand and typing. Dorothy worked for both the Indianapolis Housing Authority and the Indiana State Highway Commission. She obtained her Indiana Real Estate License in 1957. Dorothy loved birds, bowling, crocheting and taking tour bus trips. She was well known for the beautiful cakes she made and decorated for family and friends. Dorothy loved children and treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She touched the lives of those she knew with her kind spirit, tender heart and will be so deeply missed. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Helen Shockley and husband Theodore "Ted" Miller. She will be forever loved and remembered by her brother, Clifford Duffer, his wife Beverly, brother-in-law, Jay Shockley, nieces; Diane Robinson, Teresa McClain, Angela Roberts, Sheila Butler, Jennifer Avery, nephew, Jay B. Shockley and several great nieces and nephews who were blessed to know her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., with calling from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association – Greater Indiana Chapter or Riley's Children Hospital.
