Dorothy Alberta (Banaski) Conley, lovingly known as Meme, Dot, Dottie and Dolly, 87, of Westfield, Indiana, known for her elegance, classic beauty, and free spirit, passed away on September 12, 2025. She was born on January 3, 1938, in Gary, Indiana, to parents, Albert Alfred Banaski and Helen L. Banaski (Balcerak), whom she loved dearly.
Dorothy was voted “Best Dressed” and loved to design her own clothes. Throughout her life, she was very involved in her community. She received various awards for her volunteer work including the Outstanding Woman of the Year Award, Tri Kappa Outstanding Member Award in Evansville and Children’s Theatre Award to name a few. She was a professional model in Chicago; a columnist for the Newburgh Register and even had her own TV show called “Of Whims and Wishes” on Channel 50 which she later invited her sister, Marti, to cohost. Later in life, Dorothy was an active member of Tri Kappa and Sigma Phi, and a Palladium Volunteer.
Dorothy loved life and did not know a stranger. She was a wonderful wife, mother and Meme and a great friend to everyone she knew. She was beautiful inside and out. Dorothy loved to support her grandchildren in their many activities. She proudly attended all of their activities and was their biggest cheerleader. In her free time, Dorothy loved to travel the world with her husband, Ron. They enjoyed spending the winters in Hawaii with their Maui ohana (family). She enjoyed planning activities while there and was awarded the title of Honorary Mayor of Kaanapali Beach Club. Dorothy and Ron enjoyed a wonderful life together, enjoying dancing, concerts, gourmet dinners and boating trips in Kentucky. She loved to decorate especially for her favorite holiday, Christmas with her many Christmas trees.
Dorothy’s family was everything to her. She is survived by her loving husband and high school sweetheart, Ronald Conley; adoring daughter, Candace (Jeff)Beidl; two wonderful grandchildren, Gabrielle and Nicholas; sister, Marti (Paul) Ross; niece, Wendee (Mike) Ross Reedy; great nephews, Aiden and Paul and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 1-3pm on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Rd., Westfield, IN 46062, with a funeral service immediately following at 3:15pm. A Memorial Gathering with dinner will be held following the service until 5 pm.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Compassus Hospice.
