Doris Messer

Doris I.(Ferguson) Messer, 78, passed away December 7, 2013 and Donald E. Messer, 82, passed away December 8, 2013. Doris was born September 16, 1935 in Mattoon, Illinois and Donald was born July 10, 1931 in Waukegan, Illinois. They were married for over 57 years. Survivors include their children, Deb(Terry) Showers, Karen(Mitch) Katz, Craig(Vickie) Messer, and Brian(Tammy) Messer; grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Kim(Kevin) Schroeder, Matt (Anne) Katz, Blake Smith, Rebecca Katz, Andrew Messer, Jeffrey Messer, Jacob Young, and Elijah Messer; great grandchildren, Spencer and Lillian Schroeder. Doris is also survived by her brother, Carl F.(Wanda) Ferguson and was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Bob, and Jim. Donald was preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia Gray and Bruce Messer. Doris and Don were loving grandparents, enjoyed playing cards with friends, travelling, and sharing the Christmas season with friends and family. Doris was an insurance underwriter. Don was retired from Beeco Engineering and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Westminster Village North, 11050 Presbyterian Dr., Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity or the Westminster Village North Foundation.
