Doris Janice Pettigrew

October 6, 1922 — June 23, 2012

Doris Janice Pettigrew of Carmel, Indiana, left this life to spend the rest of eternity with God on Saturday, June 23. Doris was born on October 6, 1922 to Raymond and Pearl Crandall. She grew up as one of ten children. Doris met the love of her life, C. Keith Pettigrew, in 1940. They were married in 1945 until Keith's death in 2001. Doris loved bridge, working the crosswords, golf, knitting and crocheting and made hundreds of afghans that she donated for various causes including teen pregnancy organizations and other charities. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her cat, Tiger. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, and her husband, Keith. Doris is survived by her three children, Ronald, (Annette), Kent, (Rita) and Leslie Casey (Bob); her six grandchildren, Kevin, Traci, and Grant Pettigrew, Kara Horbett, Drew and Gayle Casey and six great grandchildren. Doris was a member of East 91st Street Christian Church and a past president of Toastmistress and IPS School #1 PTA. She worked at Electra Corporation, later purchased by Southwestern Bell. Services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 26 at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel 325 E. Carmel Drive Carmel, IN 46032 with calling beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on Allisonville Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the IU Kenya Partnership of Indiana University.
