Doris Jackson, of Zionsville, passed away on April 6, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on March 3, 1931, in Freetown, Indiana to James E. and Faye (Brock) Wilson. After her mother died of tuberculosis in 1941, Doris moved to Indianapolis with her father and older brother. Her father married Anne Ardoin Wilson in 1944, who adopted Doris and her brother, Charles.
Doris graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1949 and married Paul Jackson the next year. They lived in Verdun, France for three years while Paul was stationed in the Army there. She worked for Indiana Display from 1958 to 1981, then she moved to Birmingham, Alabama to work for EBSCO Industries until her retirement in 1994. She moved back to Indianapolis at that time to be close to her family.
Doris was a member of Traders Point Christian Church both before and after her move to Birmingham, where she enjoyed being active in the Seniors group. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and David Tinkey, and her grandsons, Daniel Tinkey (wife Tina) and Spencer Tinkey (fiancée Kaylee Clidence).
Visitation will be 10 – 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, with the celebration of life service beginning at 11:30 at Flanner Buchanan Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Traders Point Christian Schools, tpcs.org.
