Doris Fleck Clark
86, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 27, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1926 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Arthur and Inez Fleck. Following graduation from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, she studied at Butler University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated from Butler with an education degree in 1947. She was an elementary school teacher in the Indianapolis and Kokomo public school systems for several years including teaching at School 34 in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William F. Clark; daughter, Jennie M. (Andrew) Maguire of Zionsville; two sons, Robert A. (Karen) Clark of Carmel and William R. (Kathy) Clark of Indianapolis; brother, Richard R. Fleck of Carmel; and eight grandchildren Megan, Grace, and Emily Maguire, Katie, Kelly, and Kristen Clark, Caroline and William Clark. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur A. Fleck. Doris was an exceptionally loving and giving spouse, mother, grandmother and friend to her family. She was a generous benefactor to many worthy causes and had genuine sincerity for all whom she met. She loved life and always had a wonderful smile and interest for others no matter how badly she felt over the last few years. She was loved dearly by all her family.
The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the Progressive Care Unit staff at IU Health North Hospital for the loving and compassionate care that they provided.
Friends are invited to call from noon to 2:00 PM on Wednesday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, of which William and Doris were charter members. Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM with Rev. Rob Fuquay officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. The family also attended Northminster Presbyterian Church for many years.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Feed the Children (P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101; www.feedthechildren.org) or at the service on Wednesday. Services entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple.
