Doris Cherry

Doris A. Cherry Of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away September 15, 2014 at the age of 86. Doris was born on February 8, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN to parents, Alvin Anthony and Wynonna (Kincaid) Allison. As a young adult, she and her sister were dancers with the USO shows, performing with Andy Devine, Dick and Jerry Van Dyke and Harry Blackstone. Later in life, Doris worked as a sales associate with Lazarus. Her greatest job was that of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Doris was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake, IL. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore Cherry in 1998; brother, Al "Bub" Allison in 1989, daughter-in-law, Leslie Cherry in 2007 and a granddaughter, Shawn in 2009. Survivor include two sons, Tony and Jim (MaryAnn) Cherry and a daughter Gina (Steve) Houston; grandchildren: Jim (Jennifer) Cherry, Angie (Alan) Duet, Jonas Cherry, Luci (Nick) West, Madde Cherry, Amanda (Jim) Krzyzak and Anthony Jay Houston; great-grandchildren: Kelsy Roberts, Jake and Brandon Cherry; Alexandra Duet; Brice Jones, Jared Ayers; Justice, Jonas Jr., Isiah and Elijah Cherry; Quinton, Hunter and Isabella West; Victor and Valerie Krzyzak; siblings: Ralph Allison, Jim Allison, Helen (Gene) Chastain, Mike (Barbara) Allison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, September 18, 2014 in Flanner and Buchanan- Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in the Good Shepherd Chapel, where friends may call from 11am until the time of the service on Thursday.
