Dora Esmeralda Torres-Arevalo, 86 years old, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on March 29, 2026. She was born in Manto, Olancho, Honduras, daughter of José Torres and Maura Sánchez. She grew up in Manto in her grandmother’s home. At 17, she arrived in the capital city of Tegucigalpa, where she met her husband Elías Arevalo. Together they started their family and several businesses, including a coffee farm, small shops, restaurants, a hotel, and other ventures. Dora was the kind of person who never met a stranger and was known for being kind and compassionate, always helping others without expecting anything in return. She loved life and loved her family. She moved to the United States in 1995 and made Indianapolis, IN her second home. She was very proud when she became a U.S. citizen. She was loved by many people in both countries. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elias Arevalo, brother, David Sanchez, a daughter, Janeth Esperanza, and a son, Nelson Silva.

Survivors include her children: Irma Janeth Scheker, Dora Irasema Thomas (Tim), Elias Ernesto Arevalo (Jenny), Ruth Carolina Arevalo (Vladimir). Grandchildren: Meeyci Silva (Aaron), Alexander Silva, Cynthia Banegas (Marvin), Arely Elrod (John), Alan Alas, Melanie Riggs (Brandon), Giselle Alas (Luis), Alex Thomas (Autumn), Zach Thomas, Abraham Scheker, Mark Scheker, Valerie Arevalo, Emily Thomas, Sophia Barahona, Bella Vazquez, Vanessa Arevalo, Brianna Caceres, Samuel Caceres. Great-grandchildren: Isaac Alas, Louie Rosario, Noah Alas, Aria Riggs, Makenna Riggs, Gianna Riggs, Santiago Hidalgo, Ariana Hidalgo, Zaid Banegas, Melanie Silva, Fernando Silva. Siblings: María (Lupe) Torres, Elvia Sánchez, Marcos Sánchez (Sandra), Luis Sánchez, Juana Cardona, Salvador Sánchez, Donaldo Sánchez, Héctor (Checho) Sánchez.
