Donna L. Stokes (Selzer), 72, passed away on August 17, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love, strength, and dedication.

Born on March 6, 1954, in Goessel, Kansas, to Elvin and Bertha (Summerfeld) Selzer, Donna graced the world with her unique spirit and boundless energy for seventy-two years. Though she left this world too soon, her presence endures in the many lives she touched.

Donna was truly a farm girl at heart, known affectionately as a daddy's girl; and admired for her driven, loving, and compassionate nature. Her independent mind, spirited personality, and both inner and outer beauty made her a remarkable and unforgettable woman.

Donna created beauty wherever she went. She had an artist's eye for nature, turning gardening and landscaping into passions that reflected not only her talent but also her deep connection to the land. Her love of John Deere tractors was a testament to her appreciation for rural life, and the Kansas roots she cherished throughout her life.

Donna especially enjoyed reading in recent years, drawing inspiration from stories of resilience and grace. She was also a devoted sports fan, proudly cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. After making Indiana her home, she also became an enthusiastic supporter of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Indiana Hoosiers. Donna especially admired the Christmas season, as it brought her family together.

Above all else, Donna treasured her family. She shared a special bond with those she loved and found her greatest joy in their company. She is survived by her sisters, Diane (Ken) Helmuth and Jan (Robert) Bootman; her sons, Landon (Caitlin) Vargo and Garin Vargo; her beloved grandchildren, Lincoln and Courtney Vargo; and grand dog Karl Vargo. Each carries forward her spirit, wisdom, and generous heart.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Bertha (Summerfeld) Selzer.

While Donna's passing leaves an immeasurable void, the gifts she shared with her family, friends, and all who knew her will continue to flourish, much like the flowers she lovingly tended. Her memory will inspire those who knew her to live with authenticity, compassion, independence, and an appreciation for life's simple beauties.
