Donna M. Shimer

Donna M. Shimer, 75 of Carmel, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014. Donna was born May 19, 1938 in Alma, Michigan to the late Joseph and Marie Neitzke. She was a graduate of Valparaiso University. Donna worked for the State of Indiana as a social worker, retiring in 2000. She worked for the state IMPACT office as well as the Indiana Welfare Department. She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Donna was active as an adult in Girl Scouts, serving as a leader of two different troops. Funeral service will be at 11:00 Monday, March 31 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, March 30 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel and also on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Donna is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry K. Shimer; daughters, Amy M. (husband, Michael) Lange and Kelly M. (husband, Chad) Shimer-Roggow; grandchildren, Emily, Megan, William, Allison and Rachel; sisters, Lucille Shaver and Janet Snyder; brother, John Neitzke. Memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the Lutheran World Relief Fund.
