Donna “Darlene” Lime, 84, of Greenwood, IN, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at Demaree Crossing Assisted Living Facility. Darlene was born in Indianapolis, IN on October 23, 1941, to parents, Harold “Dutch” and Crystal Heidelberger. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeff, Pat, and Daniel Heidelberger; and her granddaughter Mikayla Lime-Pindell.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard Lime; children, Michael (Wendy) Lime of Indianapolis, Donna (Daryl) Caldwell of Greenwood, and Susan Lime of Duncan, SC. Her sister Linda Johnston and brothers Harry, Steve, and John Heidelberger. Her grandchildren; Donavyn Vaughn, Destinie (Stephen) Vaughn, and Krystal “Paige” Lime, Keith (Kasey) Sears, Cora (Tate) Stovall, Courtney Sears, Bailey (Dakota) Forrest, Chloe Pindell, Gracie Pindell, and Austin Howle. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Darlene and Richard met at Holy Cross in 6th grade. They were married on January 28, 1961, at Holy Cross Church in Indianapolis. They bought their first house on Hogan Dr. on the eastside before having their home built in Glen Oaks. They raised their children there for over 25 years. They moved to Greenwood in 1998 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Darlene loved to spend a lot of time at Cordry-Sweatwater Lake with her husband and family. She devoted her time making wonderful, beautiful memories with her family. Darlene or (Dar) as Richard would call her, loved to travel together and sightsee. They enjoyed going on adventures and traveling, especially on cruises. On Darlene and Richard’s 50th wedding anniversary they took their children and grandchildren to the Caribbean, which remains a very special memory for everyone. Darlene enjoyed reading, playing games such as euchre and puzzle games, gardening, watching birds, baking with her grandchildren, decorating her home, and of course shopping. Darlene and her husband Richard attended many sporting and special events to support their family.
She worked as a secretary for American Legion Headquarters in Indianapolis for many years retiring in 2005. After retirement, Darlene as well as her husband Richard volunteered at Our Lady of Greenwood’s food pantry. Darlene was very thoughtful and giving and loved to give back. She also donated to multiple charities and organizations throughout the years.
Richard and Darlene Lime were long time parishioners at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Greenfield. After moving to Greenwood, they were parishioners at Our Lady of Greenwood for many years and also attended mass at St. Francis & Clare Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 4pm to 8pm on Monday April 20, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm on Tuesday April 21, 2026, at St. Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Rd., Greenwood, IN, burial will immediately follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
