Donald William Orr,77, Indianapolis, died unexpectedly on the morning of September 7, 2016. Dongraduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1957 and Butler University in 1961before going on to earn his Master’s from Ball State. He taught biology at PikeHigh School for 33 years. He coached tennis for several years and his team wonthe state championship in 1968 and 1969. Don was an avid tennis player andButler Bulldogs fan. He and his wife Susan also enjoyed bicycling, hiking, andtraveling the world. Some other interests of his were attending musical andtheatrical events. Don was an amazing, caring, loving husband, dad, grandfatherand great grandfather and loved spending time with family. He was preceded indeath by his parents, Donald and Florence Orr. Survivors include his wife of 44years, Susan, daughters, Sandra (Jim) Schlosser, and Mary Ann (Alan) Tippett,grandchildren, Jessica, Chandler, and Grant, great grandchildren, Isabelle, andHenry, brother, Glenn Orr, sister Karen Miller, and several nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Landmarks or the Nature Conservancy. Visitation willbe held Tuesday from 4-7pm at Flannerand Buchanan-Broad Ripple. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at NorthUnited Methodist Church, 3808 N Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN at 10am, withcalling one half hour prior.
