Donald Ray Sloan, Age 88, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026 at home with his family.
Don was born October 12, 1937 in Patoka, Indiana, the son of Henry and Eleanor Sloan in the front bedroom of the house he grew up in. He graduated from Patoka High School in 1955, then went on to Purdue University, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He graduated on June 1, 1959 and married the love of his life, Connie Jo Hartley, 6 days later.
Don worked as Chief Engineer at Indianapolis Power & Light. He retired after 34 years in December 1999. He was a member of Fishers United Methodist Church and the Indianapolis Optimist Club.
Remaining to cherish Don’s memory are his wife Connie Jo (Hartley) Sloan, children: LaDonna Sloan, Andy & Donna Sloan, Linda & Kevin Minter, Brenda & Joe Kitterman; grandchildren: Skye and Valentine Felipe, Andrew Sloan, Trent Minter, Derek & Connally Minter, Caroline & Chase Elliott; great-grandchildren: Daymon Whitis, KarleiAnn Sloan, Dominic Felipe, Ayden Felipe, Alicia Felipe and great-great grandsons: Joseph Felipe, Ricardo Moreno.
Visitation and funeral will be held Monday March 9, 2026 in the Good Shepherd Chapel at Flanner & Buchanan - Oaklawn Cemetery (9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.) Visitation 1:00pm – 2:30pm with the service starting at 2:30pm, with Pastor Mark Ellcessor officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Don's memory to the American Cancer Society.
