Donald L. Calhoun, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
He was born on February 2, 1945 in New Castle, IN to the late Carl and Thelma O. (Stephenson) Calhoun. Don grew up in Greencastle, IN and graduated from Greencastle High School in 1963. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War. Don went to work with Allison Transmission, working as a carpenter for 42 years. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing and traveling with his family. Don was also a member of the American Legion Post 220.
Don is survived by his daughter, Crystal Roberts; daughter-in-law, Dawn Remmel-Fields; grandchildren, Lydia Rector, Matthew (Aria) Remmel, Stephen Remmel; sister, Jean Young; and beloved canine companion, Bowser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Calhoun; son, Brian Remmel; and sister, Patricia Barnhardt.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 3-7pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Funeral services will take place Monday morning at 11am, also at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
