Donald E. Sandlin
78, Indianapolis, passed away June 27, 2012. Donald was born on March 19, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late, Charles and Rosa (Lipscomb) Sandlin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Donald was employed with Allison's for over 33 years, retiring in 1992 and worked for the City of Lawrence Parks Department. He was a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge #251, Order of the Eastern Star #240, Beech Grove Eagles Lodge, an active volunteer and member of the Moose Lodge #17 and attended Lawrence United Methodist Church. Donald enjoyed woodworking and camping. He is survived by his children, Ron (Pam) Sandlin, Donald Wayne (Karen) Sandlin, Denise (Tom) Theard and Donna (Rod) Meyer; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; companion, Joyce Freyberg; brother, Lewis Sandlin. Donald was prededed in death by his wife, Hazel Sandlin; brothers, Charles, Ronald and Bill; sisters, Helen, Francis and Margaret and his parents. Services for Donald will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 29. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
