Donald Roy Byerly

Donald “Don” Byerly, 66, of Fortville, Indiana, passed away on June 3, 2026. Don was born on October 29, 1959, to John and Margot Byerly and was one of 8 children.

Don was a man who found purpose in staying busy and took great pride in caring for the things and people he loved. His lawn was a source of special pride – although he had a long-running battle with the squirrels that seemed intent on undoing his hard work. Don held his German heritage close to his heart and was proud of the traditions and values passed down through his family. He was equally if not prouder of his service in the United States Army, carrying a deep respect for his time in the military throughout his life. While he enjoyed keeping busy, nothing meant more to Don than the people he loved. He cherished time spent with family creating memories and he will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

Don is preceded in death by his parents John and Margot Byerly; and his sister Barbara. Don is survived by his loving wife Tammy Byerly; children Kelly (Clinton) Riddle, John (Ashley) Byerly; siblings Debbie, Carol, Kathy, Steve, Johnny, Patty; grandchildren Jordan, Abagail, Emma, Matthew; and great-granddaughter Amelia.

Memorial gathering for Don will be held on Thursday October 29, 2026, from 1:00-3:00pm. Placement at Washington Park East Cemetery will follow at 3:00pm accompanied by military honors.
