Don G. L. Medalen

Don G. L. Medalen, 85 of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023.  Don was born June 30, 1938 in Nekoma, ND to the late Olvin and Margaret Medalen.  He later moved to Indiana and went to high school in New Castle.   He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Don was an architect for 40 years.  He initially had his own architecture firm, later working for Paul Harris, designing their stores and finally for the Harcourt Management, designing banks and apartments.  He attended St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Don was an avid Colts fan, who could often be found playing a round of golf on his favorite course, Zionsville Golf Course.  After retirement, he bought a boat and spent time fishing in the Florida Keys.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, September 12 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel.  A private family graveside will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Scott B. (wife, Tina) Medalen and Brett A. (wife, Mindy) Medalen; grandchildren, Kendyl and Avery Medalen, Jenna, Jessa, Jake and Jules Medalen; sisters, Betty Foster and Marcia Garner.
