Don H. Shaw of Indianapolis, IN presently residing in Franklin IN, passed away peacefully February 12, 2020 surrounded by his wife and loving family at the age of 84.
Don was born in Decatur, IL on October 22, 1935 to the late George Arron Shaw and Verna Velma (Crawford) Shaw. He was the youngest of eleven children. As a young man, he married/divorced shortly after spending time in college studying to be a chiropractor. He moved to Indianapolis, IN in 1962 and there went on a blind date where he met the love of his life, and they were later married on June 11, 1965 in Indianapolis. Don worked for Kroger Dairy for 35 years learning every facet of the job as a dairy worker. Don loved making stained glass and took courses to learn the art. He tried his hand at many things like wine making, woodworking, candle making or anything interesting to him he read about in a book. He enjoyed shopping, cooking and spending time with his family. He enjoyed driving and traveling around back-roads on vacations with his family.
Don is survived by his wife of 54 years Marilyn F. Shaw; children Sheldon Shaw, Misty A. Slentz, Shannon L. Shaw, Shauna Weston, Jimmy Spears. (Deceased). Daughters-in-law Kimberly Shaw and Dawn Spears. Sister-in-law Laura Joan Sams. He is preceded in death by Bernadine (Johnson) Eggen, all 10 of his brothers and sisters, and a son and grandson. Don has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed providing in any way he could for them. A great Grandfather and Father with giant hugs and room at his table.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18 from 12 to 2 PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229.
